Sharp is the latest big-screen brand to announce a range of LED-backlit LCD TVs. The new LE700 line-up announced for the US market, which claims to ‘bring LED technology to the mainstream,’ are built around proprietary Full-Array LED backlighting diffuser sheets, which promise more-even illumination.

The super-slim TVs will come in 32-, 40-, 46- and 52-inch screen sizes; all offer 120Hz frame-rate conversion and have a quoted response time of 4 milliseconds. All but the smallest set offer access to Sharp's AQUOS 'net internet content portal, featuring weather info and news.

To reduce power consumption, the sets also sport an Optical Picture Control, which adjust the screen’s brightness depending on ambient room light. More news on any UK roll-out as we get it.
