Projection specialist Vivitek is pushing down the price of hi-def projection in the UK, with a new 1080p DLP model which will sell for just £850. The company, whose innovative LED DLP model is reviewed in the new issue of Home Cinema Choice, claims its cut-price H1080FD has a contrast ratio of 4,000:1 and 1,800 ANSI Lumens of brightness. Connectivity on the credit-crunch model is also good, with two HDMI inputs, component, composite and S-video sockets and even a 12V trigger for automated screen control. Lamp life is quoted at 4,000 hours.

‘It’s well documented that today's consumers are looking for quality and value with their purchases,’ says James Hsu, the brand’s European Manager. ’Our 1080p projector delivers superb images and performance at a very attractive price. It combines the latest digital technologies in a portable and economical package that gives consumers HD content without compromises.’
