No 3D standard has yet been adopted for Blu-ray, but industry insiders are already speculating that Panasonic's first official release using its own Blu-ray authoring system will be James Cameron’s 3D SF epic Avatar, due for theatrical release in December. A 3D BD of the movie could be on sale as early as Easter 2010.
Clips from the eagerly-awaited production and endorsements from director Cameron (pictured below) have characterized the Panasonic's 3D demonstrations of late; it also donated 3D cameras and monitors to the production. Authoring trials are currently been carried out at the brand’s Panasonic Hollywood Labs facility.
Although Dolby is lobbying hard for its own proprietary 3D standard, most major players seem to favour an open system, like that proposed by Panasonic.
It remains to be seen if the general public will be prepared to pay a premium to experience 3D at home. However manufacturers are convinced that once viewers see hi-def 3D, they’ll forget about the poor quality anaglyph system used previously.
The Dolby system isn't even

The Panasonic is but might not even support multi-view 3D or high full HD frame rates, especially in 3D. They should pick a 3D system capable of 1080p24, 1080p48, 1080p50, 1080p60 and mult-view.
