A massive 74 per cent of UK consumers are still confused about the benefits of the Blu-ray format, according to a new survey conducted by LG. But that won’t put them off from spending on home entertainment tech this Christmas.

According to the brand’s latest bout of market research, £350 will be the average outlay this season on home entertainment gear.

‘If you compare this cost with what the average family of four would spend going to the cinema once a month, the level of savings (offered by home cinema equipment) is very substantial,’ reasons Daniel Aziz, marketing manager for LG Electronics digital media.

Other stats from the LG survey reveal that 71 per cent of us prefer to watch films at home rather than in the cinema, and we typically consume 4 movies a week.
