When Creative Home Cinema's Mark Buckfield met Hell's Kitchen contestant Grant Bovey at his brand-new playpad, it quickly became clear that he was planning something special...
An avid music and film fan, Grant wanted the ultimate sound and vision experience. However, it was also essential that the tech should fit seamlessly into the elegant design his wife and fellow Hell's Kitchen star, Anthea Turner, cooked up.
The huge living space is divided into dining, relaxing and entertainment areas, and the audio system needed to reflect the different requirements of each zone. In order to make the speakers as unobtrusive as possible in the sitting room, 1.8m tall Artcoustic speakers were concealed in built-in storage cupboards, while four flush-mounted SpeakerCraft speakers recess into the ceiling.
These can descend and rotate to direct sound into the sitting area when watching TV, or the entertaining area for listening to music. Using four identical speakers meant they could either be used separately or combined to produce an overall ambient sound throughout the living space.

With so many windows in the apartment and very little available wall space, the only way to add a screen to the dining room was to look up! Consequently, a 42in screen has been hidden in the ceiling on a motorised lift and can drop down at the touch of a button.
Providing film and music content to the various screens (including a Philips Aurea in the kitchen and another drop-down screen in the guest bedroom) is a Kaleidescape media server and two Sky HD boxes. Delighted with the install, the only question Grant has left is whether his Dalek can be programmed to operate the Crestron system...
