Relax in a home theatre with D-Box seating and some serious AV artillery

This stunning dedicated cinema room was retrofitted by Essex-based T&T Automation into a rural home, along with a CCTV and gate-access entry system.

When not in use, all of the projector equipment is hidden away. The Runco VX22 PJ is housed in a downstand that runs around the ceiling edge, and is raised and lowered by a Future Automation lift. The Crestron touchpanel that activates this also triggers the 110in Da-Lite projector screen to be lowered in front of the everyday plasma TV.

The room, completely constructed by T&T, features AcoustiBlok material built into the wall facades. Multiple lighting circuits create a myriad of scenes for different entertainment and viewing experiences, and a stepped floor provides a clear viewing experience from each of the three rows of seats. Of these, the beige cuddle couch is packed with D-Box motion actuators - which adds an extra, tactile dimension to the whole home cinema experience.

Naturally, HD is catered for too. A Kaleidescape movie and music server
was chosen for convenience, but additional high-definition content is delivered by a Pioneer Blu-ray player and Sky+ HD. Reference quality surround audio comes courtesy of a 5.1 Bowers & Wilkins in-wall setup - the front Signature 8NTs cost £2,000 each!

Control of the theatre (including the motorised black-out blinds that cover seven large casement windows and lighting) can all be done from the wireless Crestron touchpad. The owner can even use the displays to watch live and recorded CCTV pictures from any of the 19 cameras around the property - cool, in a Ernst Stavro Blofeld kinda way!
