The end of the world is nigh, but at least Children of Men is available on Blu-ray

I’ve now visited Alfonso Cuaron’s superbly engrossing apocalyptic vision of the future so many times on so many different formats (cinema, DVD, HD DVD and now Blu-ray) that it sometimes feels like I live there. But, to be honest, I don't really mind because it's a phenomenal film. And although it’s taken an age to hit BD, the wait has clearly been worth it. Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki’s stylised visuals are handled with aplomb by the VC-1 1.85:1 encode, while the DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio offers exceptional tonality, even if it isn’t the most persuasive surround experience ever. Extras include deleted scenes, various featurettes about shooting the film and the politics behind it, plus BonusView content including a closer look at ads from the film and behind-the-scenes footage.
