The next few months could be quite critical for Sony's SXRD projection technology. Since making a spectacular debut on the 'mainstream' scene back in January 2006 with the VPL-VW100, SXRD has found itself chased down by sudden surges in quality and cuts in price from its technological rivals – especially JVC's D-ILA system. To maintain its claim to the PJ high ground, it had to have a big statement up its sleeve, a projector that at least tackled one of these two potential problems! And no, with a price of £5,000, I'm not talking about the affordability one...
