Sharp unveils LED LCD video wall display

Sharp has unveiled a spectacular LED TV wall display solution. The screen is made from multiples of the brand’s Full LED-backlit PN-V601 60in professional LCD monitor, and can be configured for any size requirements.

At a press conference in Japan, the company used a 15-feet high and 22-feet wide display built from thirty of the Pro LED panels.

Sharp announces 3D Quattron TV range, plus world's first 3D Blu-ray recorders

Sharp has jumped aboard the 3D bandwagon, announcing its first range of 3D-ready Quattron TVs, as well as the world’s first 3D-compatible Blu-ray recorders.

Sony to open seven 3D viewing pavilions for 2010 World Cup, UK not included

James Cameron signs partnership deal with Samsung, says brand 'a world leader in 3D'

3DTV glasses brand incompatibility problem solved, there's just one catch...

The incompatibility of 3D glasses between TV brands is seen as a significant stumbling block in the take-up of domestic 3D. Not being able to take your own 3D spex around to watch sports or a movie with a friend who has a different brand of 3DTV makes little sense to anyone.

Despite the standards for Full HD 3D being rigorously defined and agreed during 2009, seemingly everyone forgot to mandate a uniform standard for Active Shutter glasses. Helpfully, though, HCC has discovered a workaround.  read more »

LG joins Samsung with 3D health warning, but the first TVs sell out all the same

LG has followed Korean rival Samsung and issued a health warning for its debut line of 3DTVs. The first sets shipping in Korea sport a warning that children under 5 should have only limited access to 3D content, as it is potentially damaging to young eyes.

HCC reported on Samsung’s first health advisory back in March, which cautioned pregnant women, the elderly and children. More recently, the brand has advised against drinking excessive alcohol while watching 3D  read more »

Samsung leads 3D TV charge into UK high streets this weekend

LG to offer both Passive LCD and Active LED 3D TVs, because 'the public demanded it!'

LG has finally decided to launch both Active Shutter and Passive Polarisation 3D TVs into the UK market. ‘Consumers have demanded that we offer them a choice,’ LG’s TV marketing king George Mead told HCC. ‘Some tell us they prefer Passive screens while others can’t justify the cost of Active Shutter glasses (typically £100 a pair) when they have a family who want to watch 3D events.’  read more »

UK's biggest electrical retailers pledge to purge power-guzzling bigscreen TVs from shelves

Expect to see fewer bigscreen TVs in your local high street store, at least in the short term. Samsung signs deal to supply screens for iPad, but LG Display still Apple's biggest partner

Samsung has reportedly inked a deal with Apple said to be worth $240million to deliver screens for the upcoming iPad. The first iPads will feature screens made by LG Display and Chimei Innolux Corp., a Taiwanese display group, but the deal remains a major coup for the SKorean giant.
